Engine Part Replacement — A cheaper Solution

Consult the Owner’s Manual

When ordering engine spare parts, you should always refer to the service manual. There are many different components, so you must make sure the part you think is defective, is the one you need to replace. You should make certain the part number is the correct one for the required component. There can be minor variations from model to model, so a thorough check is recommended. All engine parts will have a serial number, and this should match the defective part you wish to replace.

Genuine Parts

There are many inferior parts on the market that are not recommended by the manufacturer. They may look the same, and are usually cheaper than genuine components, but the quality is not the same as a genuine part, which is endorsed by the manufacturer. Fitting a substandard component can cause major damage to the engine, and upon inspection by the service engineers, it could even result in a void warranty!

Second-Hand Parts

Rather than pay the high price for new parts, it is a better idea to use genuine used components, taken from vehicles that are no longer usable due to accidental damage. A car that has had a rear end collision, and is declared a write off, will end up in a wrecker’s yard where all the usable components will be stripped down, cleaned and tested before being sold as used parts. Most vehicle owners prefer to buy second hand parts because they save money, and they can rest assured that the part is genuine.

Reconditioned Engines

At JTW Autoparts, we have a range of reconditioned engines that have been overhauled by our mechanics. If it is a major component that needs replacing, such as a crankshaft or cylinder head, it is often a better solution to replace the entire engine. Wear and tear is something that all components suffer, so if the engine had a high mileage, it pays to replace it with a reconditioned one. This way you can be sure that you will have trouble-free motoring for many years to come.
